Russia has increased fuel supplies to its armed forces in Ukraine or neighboring territories to the highest level in the entire war.
Bloomberg, citing rail transportation data, estimates that Russian shipments of gasoline, diesel fuel and jet fuel reached nearly 220,000 tons in September, more than Russia delivered in March.
Then the Russian military received about 200 thousand tons of fuel, after which the volumes decreased monthly until August, when the volume of deliveries amounted to just over 172 thousand tons.
According to the publication, the increase in supplies is directly related to the mobilization announced in Russia and the success of the Ukrainian army on the battlefield.
Bloomberg also points out that actual supply volumes could be even higher, as the calculations do not include pipelines, where supply data is not divided into military and civilian.
After the invasion of Ukraine began, the Russian army faced serious logistical problems, which led to the fact that the military was forced to abandon equipment because they could not find fuel for it. According to the analytical project Oryx, the Ukrainian Armed Forces seized more than a thousand pieces of Russian military equipment during the war, some of which were abandoned due to lack of fuel.
The Russian regions close to Ukraine have huge agricultural areas, but the increase in fuel supplies this year has significantly exceeded normal seasonal fluctuations due to increased demand from farmers.
In Poland, the Druzhba oil pipeline, through which Russia supplies oil, was perforated.
