European countries have exceeded the 80% target when it comes to filling gas storage facilities, although the regulation called for it on November 1st.
The European Commission is satisfied with the progress in filling gas storage facilities in EU countries for the coming winter, said EC spokesman Tim McPhee. Interfax-Ukraine writes about it.
“In general, at the European level, we exceeded the target of 80% in terms of filling gas storage facilities, even though the regulation was issued for this on November 1. We are satisfied with the result achieved , but at the same time we cannot relax our efforts and ask the Member States to continue working in the direction,” he said at a briefing in Brussels.
According to McPhee, some EU member states have exceeded this indicator, and some have not yet reached it.
In this regard, the head of the service of official representatives of the EC, Eric Mamer, considered it necessary to clarify that “gas reserves in one of the EU countries are intended not only to supply this one country. ” He pointed out that some countries of the union are forced to rely on the possibility of stocks in the storage facilities of other member states.
It was previously reported that the European Union’s underground gas storage facilities are 80% full, two months earlier than planned.
