Chinese fighter jets crossed the Taiwan Strait, Chinese state television reported on Tuesday as tensions escalated over a possible imminent visit to the island of Taiwan by US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
“Chinese Su-35 fighter jets cross the Taiwan Strait,” CGTN reported without further details.
The Chinese army vowed on Tuesday to launch “selective military action” in response to US politician Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan in open defiance of the Asian giant.
“People’s Liberation Army” China is on high alert and will launch a series of targeted military actions to counter this, uphold national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and thwart outside interference and separatist efforts to achieve “Taiwan independence,” Defense Ministry spokesman Wu said.
