Congress President Lady Camones spoke about the rape complaint case against MP Freddy Diaz and the statements of Vice President Wilmar Ehler.

“I spoke to him [Wilmar Elera] demanding respect for women, demanding a public apology. The subject of resignation was set. He indicated no. We will see the results ethics commission. Much depends on the results of the ethics committee,” he said.

About Freddie Diaz

Camones said that if Freddy Diaz, is being investigated for alleged sexual abuse of an employee in his office, there are two parallel processes: a public ministry process and a congressional political process.

“[Sobre Freddy Díaz] At present, the Ethics Commission must take action in accordance with […] Due process investigations are conducted within established time limits. We are taking action immediately,” he said.

Camones stated that they would be forthright in the misconduct of congressmen. “No one is protecting anyone here. If these are congressmen who have gone missing or are doing this kind of thing, no one here is going to shield anyone, ”he said.

Answering another question about President Pedro Castillo’s attacks on the press, Camones said the president was wrong to blame the press for his bad decisions.

“We have always expressed our unrestricted respect for the freedom of the press. The president is definitely wrong in blaming the media. The press did not tell him to ‘appoint this or that’ official, who was routinely interrogated, and the media did not persuade him to be involved in corrupt practices,” he said.
