There are many aerosols in the stratosphere over Antarctica that were not there before the volcanic eruption.
The sky in Antarctica turned pink and plum due to the eruption of the Hunga-Tonga-Hunga-Haapai volcano. This was reported by The Guardian, on Friday, July 15
Scientists say the sky got this color because of aerosols thrown into the stratosphere caused by the explosion that occurred in January.
“Stratospheric aerosols can circulate around the world for months after a volcanic eruption, scattering and bending light as the sun sets or rises below the horizon, creating light in the sky with colors of pinks, blues, purples and violets, ”said Nava Fedaeff, forecaster from Niva.
According to him, volcanic twilight, color and intensity depend on the amount of haze and cloudiness in the path of light reaching the stratosphere.
