About 50 firearms were confiscated by Norwegian authorities. A large amount of ammunition was seized from a foreign ship in the port of the Svalbard archipelago. This was announced by the governor’s administration on Friday, July 15.
“The weapons were discovered illegally aboard a search on one of the two ships owned by a foreign company,” Deputy Governor Selvi Elvedal said.
At the same time, he did not name in which state the company was registered.
Elvedal said the incident is considered a serious violation of gun laws and the ship owners will face corporate fines.

Recall that in June, Russian hackers attacked several Norwegian government sites and services. The attackers stressed that this was revenge for Norway’s restrictions on the traditional transit route for goods to Svalbard.
