The European Commission announced the distribution of three million euros in support of the Russian and Belarusian independent media that work in exile in the EU countries.

Money will be aimed at creating a fan European platform or network of media centers to promote independent journalism.
Thanks to this new support, the commission continues to turn the EU into a large center for those who are looking for freedom of expression and democracy, the press release will say.
According to Brussels, about 1.5 thousand independent journalists and news publications from Russia and Belarus moved to the EU countries in 2024.
According to the EU, this is the second case of the distribution of European means to help the Russian and Belarusian media abroad. For the first time, the same thing happened in July 2023: then 2.2 million euros in the form of grants were allocated by him the Prague Center of Civil Society. It is financed by the EU, the governments of Sweden, the Czech Republic, the UK, the United States and Finland, as well as Belgium and Switzerland.
The EU previously announced proposals to support independent media from the Russian Federation and Belarus, who work in the EU, so that “they can continue to produce content and distribute its audience without editorial intervention.”
