Fico’s party is said to be ready to support the reduction of aid to Ukrainians located on Slovak territory in response to Ukraine’s suspension of Russian gas transit.
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said that because of Kyiv’s refusal to continue the transfer of Russian gas to European countries, his party is ready to vote for reducing aid to Ukrainian refugees. DennikN reported it.
Such a move, Fico believes, would be an “adequate response.”
“My party is ready to support a reduction in aid to Ukrainians located on Slovak territory in response to Ukraine stopping gas transit,” the prime minister said.
Fico previously threatened to stop electricity exports to Ukraine because it refused to transit Russian gas from January 1, 2025. He made the corresponding statement after a trip to Moscow and a meeting with Putin.
Let’s recall that on December 29, Robert Fico published on Facebook an “open letter” to the leadership of the European Union in relation to Ukraine’s decision to stop the transit of Russian gas, specifically to Slovakia.
