About a dozen influential law enforcement officers turned out to be fellow countrymen of Oleg Tatarov.
As Schemes claim in their investigation, they all hold influential positions in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Police and the State Bureau of Investigation – that is, in a law enforcement system that should be politically independent, but for which their longtime acquaintance Tatarov has been appointed as the official overseer.
“Schemes” explored the influence of Tatarov’s fellow countrymen who hold positions and whether they themselves connect the development of their careers with Tatarov’s status in President Zelensky’s team.
All these officials, like Tatarov himself, were born in Novoukrainka, a small town in the west of the Kirovograd region. All of them have either family ties with the official OP Tatarov, or a common career or scientific path. Or both.
Tatarov has been maintaining the status of the official curator of the entire law enforcement system of Ukraine from the Office of the President for more than four years. Despite the noisy scandals, Vladimir Zelensky personally supports him. The supervision of the official OP Tatarov over the law enforcement system of Ukraine is publicly included in his official duties.
