Joe Biden signs an executive order pardoning his son. Biden Jr. has been implicated in cases of illegal possession of firearms and tax evasion.
US President-elect Donald Trump called the pardon of outgoing White House head Joe Biden’s son Hunter an “abuse” and “a miscarriage of justice.” Donald Trump wrote this on the Truth Social social network page on Sunday, December 1.
“Does the pardon include Joe Hunter, the ‘January 6 hostages’ who have been imprisoned for several years? An abuse and violation of justice!” – he wrote.
By “January 6 hostages,” Trump means those who stormed the Capitol on January 6, 2021. He and his supporters view them as political prisoners, arguing that “some of they were unjustly persecuted.”
Meanwhile, as Reuters wrote, US President Joe Biden’s son Hunter, after being pardoned by his father, expressed his intention to devote his life to helping people with addictions.
“I have admitted my guilt and accepted responsibility for mistakes in the darkest days of my addiction – mistakes that were used to publicly embarrass and embarrass me and my family for political purposes,” he said, noting that he remained sober for more than five years.
He added that he would not trade the pardon and would “dedicate his life to helping those who are sick and still suffering.”
Earlier, American President Joe Biden signed a document pardoning his son, although the head of the White House had previously claimed that he would not do so. Hunter Biden was acquitted as a defendant on charges of weapons violations and tax evasion. The verdict in the first case is expected on December 12, in the second – on December 16.
In June, a jury found Hunter Biden guilty of illegally purchasing and possessing a firearm after a lengthy trial that involved drug abuse and family problems.
