In Iowa, Harris has the support of 47% of likely voters, while Trump has 44%. The Republican headquarters considers these results distorted.
US presidential candidate Kamala Harris leads her rival Donald Trump in Iowa, a state that Trump easily won in 2016 and 2020. This is confirmed by data from a new Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa Poll , Reuters reports.
It was noted that in Iowa, Harris is supported by 47% of likely voters, while Trump has 44%. That’s a big change from the September poll, which showed Trump leading Harris by 4 percentage points.
“Polling shows that the shift in Harris’ favor is driven by women, including older and independent voters,” said the Des Moines Register.
While Harris’ lead is within a 3.4% margin of error, it signals a shift in the traditionally Republican state.
The Trump campaign called it a “clear deviation” and noted that the Emerson College poll more accurately reflected the state of the Iowa electorate.
The results of the November 1-2 Emerson College/RealClearDefense poll showed a significant 10 percentage point lead for Trump. The difference is partly explained by Trump’s strong support among men and independent voters, while Harris is popular among those under 30.
Iowa has six votes in the Electoral College and needs 270 votes to win the election.
It was previously reported that Trump trails Harris among female voters by 14 points. And women go to the polls more often than men.
Remember that Trump and Harris are almost tied in the primary state. The Democrat is only one percentage point ahead of the Republican.
