French prosecutors announced the reasons for detaining the co-founder and owner of the messenger Telegram Pavel Durov. The Russian programmer, in particular, is suspected of having links to child pornography. This was stated in the corresponding press release published on Monday, August 26.
In total, Durov is suspected of 12 crimes. Among them are:
-
failure to provide information required for investigations when requested by law enforcement;
-
conspiracy to distribute drugs;
-
complicity in cybercrime;
-
conspiracy to defraud;

complicity in the possession of pornographic content to minors.
Durov can now be detained until August 28.
As you know, on the night of June 24, Pavel Durov, who also has French citizenship, in addition to Russian, was detained in Paris. The request for his detention was made by the Office for Combating Crimes Against Minors, that is, security forces that investigate crimes committed by pedophiles. In France they believe that for them Telegram became a big platform. Durov faces up to 20 years in prison.
