The memorandum provides a one-time payment in the amount of UAH 21 thousand for vulnerable households for the purchase of household solid fuel.
The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) will allocate $30 million to Ukraine for residents of nine front-line regions. This was reported by the Ministry of Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories.
It was noted that on August 21, the Ministry of Reintegration and UNHCR signed a Memorandum on supporting front-line communities during the next winter season.
The memorandum provides for a one-time payment in the amount of UAH 21 thousand for vulnerable households for the purchase of household solid fuel.
The total budget of the program is $30 million, and assistance will cover vulnerable households in Sumy, Kharkov, Kherson, Lugansk, Donetsk, Dnepropetrovsk, Zaporozhye, Nikolaev and Chernihiv regions. First of all, we are talking about households within 10 km from the collision line or from the border of the Russian Federation.
“UNHCR’s priority is to support people who remain in frontline regions during the winter months, which are likely to be particularly difficult this year due to targeted attacks on the energy infrastructure these people are are in incredibly vulnerable socio-economic situations, and therefore, those in need of humanitarian assistance to survive and maintain their stability,” said UNHCR representative in Ukraine Caroline Lindholm Billing.
The $30 million provided by UNHCR is reportedly part of a larger aid package. The total value of this package is $100 million.
Let us remind you that the Cabinet of Ministers decided to allocate UAH 2.7 billion for an experimental project to restore a number of settlements in front-line regions.
