The offensive on Kursk region continues. Ukrainian military correspondent Bogdan Miroshnikov reported that over the last 24 hours the successes of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (officially the Ukrainian command maintains a ceasefire) were no less impressive.
The enemy can neither stop nor reject our forces. Our soldiers are constantly working on the occupiers’ reserves – tracking, inflicting defeats, preventing them from turning around. The exchange fund is being replenished further. The reality is that our advance continues. It is difficult, hard, yes. But the enemy cannot even stop it. While the window of opportunity is wide open – we must use it. There will be many more interesting things. The occupiers are just beginning to guess what awaits them, – Miroshnikov wrote in Telegram.
Russian media write that the remaining Russians in Sudzha were surrounded. In addition, Muscovites expect that today Ukraine will develop an offensive in Kursk region.
The advanced units of the “good people” group operating in the Kursk region of Russia, as of yesterday evening, apparently continued to advance and reached the following lines and areas, military observer Konstantin Mashovets reported about the advance of Ukrainian troops in the Kursk region of Russia.
In the Rila direction, they reached the Snagost line, south of the city of Kornevo, and also took control of most of the road between Korenevo and Sud’ya (they are located less than 25 km from the city of Rylsk). Apparently, some part of Korenevo is in the gray zone or is not controlled by the Russian authorities.
In the Lgov direction, advanced units are already operating in the area of the village of Anastasyevka and are obviously trying to advance towards Kromskie Byki (approximately 17-18 km to Lgov).
Directly in the Kursk direction, a Russian counterattack has been repelled in the eastern part of Sudzha. There is an advance to the east, along the R-200 road in the direction of Kursk. The village of Martynovka, located to the east of the city, has been taken under control.
Mashovets writes that the tactical group of “good people”, acting in the direction of the “Milovo” tract, was able to force the Psel River and advanced in the south-east direction, taking control of Plekhovo, already on the southern bank of the river… Thus, securing the right (southern) flank of the group, which is advancing along the general direction of Sudzha – Kursk. But this information, in Mashovets’s opinion, still requires some verification.
Overall, over the past two days, the Russian command has begun to step up its attempts to stop and “cut off” the advance of the Defense Forces.
Probably, in the Korenevo area, to the south of Lgov and to the east of Sudzha, the enemy deployed separate additional units from the Kursk group, as well as in other directions, in order to carry out separate counterattacks with their forces and with the help of intensive artillery and aviation fire damage to the combat formations of the advancing groups of “good people”, to force their offensive tactical groups to stop and go on the defensive.
The reserves that the Russians are now pulling into the Kursk operational direction are a real “hodgepodge”, obviously assembled in a hurry.
How to put all this together and manage it in a separate operational direction in a situation “on the fly”, with an obvious time deficit and problems with monitoring the situation – a big question… The previous attempt of the Russian command “to pull this trick” in a very similar situation in the Kharkov region ended in obvious failure and the retreat of Russian troops from it. I do not have reliable information that the enemy has begun to move any additional forces (reserves) to the Kursk region from key directions for itself – Kramatorsk, Toretsk, Pokrovsk or Kurakhovsk, where it is conducting an offensive… And this, obviously, looks quite eloquent. But, in this context, I want to note that the situation in the Kursk operational direction has significant potential, – Mashovets wrote.
Probably, the Russian command will have to quickly deploy a second echelon of additional forces and resources (its reserves) in the Kursk operational direction (quite possibly within the framework of the GV “North”), because it is already obvious that 10-11 battalions “hastily grabbed” in different directions and composition of different units and formations will not fundamentally solve the problem there.
