The State Customs Service reported the first results of comprehensive measures against those involved in criminal cases. Thus, two senior service officers were sacked after being jailed for corruption offenses related to a massive corruption scheme. The State Customs Service reported this on Telegram on Friday, July 12.
“Today, by order of the State Customs Service, the director of the Department of Security and Control of the Department and his deputy, who were detained by law enforcement officers this week for committing corruption offenses, are dismissed,” the statement said.
The State Customs Service promised to subsequently report the results of the inspections that are ongoing in the service and its territorial bodies.
We remind you that the Security Service of Ukraine detained officials of the Central Office of the State Customs Service, who, according to investigators, received bribes from the heads of regional customs.
The director of the Department of Security and Control of the Department of State Customs Service and his deputy systematically requested undue benefits from the heads of customs in the region. Instead, they “guarantee” not to create artificial barriers to their professional activities. In exchange for bribes, the department’s security chiefs also promised to “cover up” official violations by customs officials.
It was previously reported that the Ministry of Justice exposed a corruption scheme. The defendants in the case received money for illegally closing enforcement proceedings against citizens with debts.
