The ruling coalition in Romania has already decided on the dates for the parliamentary and presidential elections.
Social polls in Romania indicate that the current Romanian Deputy Secretary General of NATO, Mircea Geoane, has the highest support in his country as a potential candidate in the presidential elections, writes Digi24.
It was reported that 26.7% of respondents were willing to vote for Joane.
In second place is current Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu with 17.8%, in third place is the head of the center-right Union for the Safety of Romania Elena Lasconi with 14.3%, in fourth place is pro-Russian MP Diana Soshoaque, who has already publicly announced that she will run.
Joane’s rating came out higher than in the previous May poll, and in the schedules for the second round with her participation, she also leads all the options proposed in the survey: between Ciolaku and Joane, the the latter will win with 63.7%, and in the competition with Lasconi – with 66.2% of the votes.
Romania’s ruling coalition has already decided the dates for the parliamentary and presidential elections: the presidential elections will take place on November 24 and, if necessary, a second round, on December 8.
Between the two rounds – on December 1 – parliamentary elections will take place.
During the discussions, the option of combining voting in the parliamentary and presidential elections was considered, but they were finally fixed on three separate dates.
It was previously reported that Romanian President Klaus Iohannis has withdrawn his candidacy for the post of NATO Secretary General.
