Russia is trying to “show support and ensure the presence of the Navy in important operational areas of the Atlantic Ocean.”
After Cuba, Russia sent its warships to Venezuela. They have entered the Venezuelan port of La Guaira. Russian media reported this on Wednesday, July 3.
Four ships of the Russian Northern Fleet arrived in Venezuela – the nuclear submarine Kazan, the frigate Admiral Gorshkov, capable of carrying hypersonic missiles, the supply tanker Academician Pashin and the Navy rescue tug Nikolai Chiker.
The Russian Defense Ministry said the purpose of the ships’ arrival was to show “support and ensure the Navy’s presence in key operational areas of the Atlantic Ocean.”
We remind you that on June 12, Russian warships entered the port of Havana. The frigate Admiral Gorshkov and the nuclear submarine Kazan, accompanied by a tug and a fuel ship, arrived in Cuba for a five-day visit.
As you know, during the 27 months of attacks on the Russian Black Sea Fleet in the temporarily occupied Crimea, Ukraine sank or seriously damaged more than ten large warships – a full third of the fleet.
