Studying in Taiwan has shown: Although many additional hot days a year can “add an extra biological age” to the body.
Long -term exposure to heat waves accelerates the processes of accumulating the body in the same way as smoking, alcohol or malnutrition. This conclusion was reached by scientists, the results of which were published in the journal Nature Climate Change, The Guardian was written.
For 15 years, scientists have noticed more than 25 thousand people in Taiwan to find out how heat affects the biological age – an indicator that reflects not only years of life, but also a state of health. For this, cholesterol, pressure, lungs, liver and kidneys, as well as inflammation markers are considered.
The results became distressing: every four additional heat days over two years they “added” to a person nine days of biological age. Particularly weak people working in the open air – their aging accelerates even, up to 33 days.
“If the heat effect has accumulated for decades, the health consequences will be more serious than we can see,” said the leader of the study, Dr. Tsui is from the University of Hong Kong.
Scientists are completed: the repetitive effect of heat waves is a long -term risk throughout the population, as it gradually accelerates body aging and increases the risk of premature death.
Earlier it was reported that Ukrainian scientists had taken a significant reproductive drug step.
