The detainee is an unemployed Odessa resident born in 1970. This was reported by the publication “Dumskaya” with reference to law enforcement officers.
It is noted that on June 5, the electricity supply company received an email with the following content:
The DTEK OEM building is mined! If power is not restored throughout the city within 15 minutes, your building will fly into the air! I’m not kidding! The time has gone!
The police checked the premises and the area adjacent to the company’s office, but did not find any explosive devices. At the same time, 230 people were evacuated from the building.
The “miner” was found three weeks later. During a search in the suspect’s apartment, a mobile phone was found with a letter sent from DTEK still in the Gmail application.
He was charged under Part 2 of Article 259 of the Criminal Code (deliberately false report of an impending explosion of a critical infrastructure facility). For this offense, the man faces up to eight years in prison.
