The Austrian Defense Minister avoided answering the question about Ukraine’s right to defend itself from shelling out from Russian territory.
Austria said that the United States, France and Germany, by allowing Ukraine to strike targets on Russian territory, “crossed the red line.” Austrian Defense Minister Claudia Tanner said this in an interview with Die Presse.
“The red line has been crossed. Therefore, I am very pleased with the clarification from NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg that NATO will not send troops to Ukraine,” Tanner said.
The journalist recalled that the reason for this decision of the Western countries is that without it it will be difficult for Ukraine to defend itself from the shelling from the territory of the Russian Federation, in particular, during the defense of the region of Kharkov. He asked if the minister thought that Ukraine had the right to do this.
“As a neutral military state, it’s not our place to judge,” Tanner responded.
We remind you that last Friday the German government lifted restrictions related to the use of weapons transferred to Ukraine. Now Ukrainian defenders will be able to strike on Russian territory.
On this same day it was learned that the United States would be allowed to attack Russian troops near the border.
