More than 370 million European citizens have the right to vote in the 27 states of the European Union.
In the European Union, elections to the European Parliament begin on Thursday, June 6, and last until June 9 inclusive. Politico reported it.
The Netherlands will hold elections on June 6. Ireland – June 7. Latvia, Malta, Slovakia – June 8. The Czech Republic will vote on two days: June 7 and 8, and Italy on June 8 and 9. The remaining states of the EU is holding elections on June 9.
More than 370 million European citizens have the right to vote in the 27 EU states to elect 720 members of the European Parliament.
The elections are held in a round and aim to determine the national contingents of representatives – representatives of the EP. Voting is conducted on the complete list of candidates nominated by political parties or coalitions. Lists that do not receive 5% of the votes do not enter the European Parliament.
The first assessments of the new composition of the European Parliament will be published on the evening of June 9.
A plenary session of the European Parliament is scheduled for July 16-19 in Strasbourg. Elected MEPs will gather to form political factions and elect the leadership of the European Parliament.
After that, comes the period of election of the leaders of the EU countries and the European Parliament of the head of the European Commission and the formation of the executive board of the EC – 27 European Commissioners. The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, agreed to accept the second order.
