The Ukrainian side plans to discuss targeted funding of orders from domestic defense enterprises.
The Freedom Summit began in the capital of the US – Washington. As part of the June 5-7 event, prospects for Ukrainian-American defense-industrial cooperation will be discussed. This was stated by the Deputy Chairman of the National Association of Defense Industry of Ukraine (NAUDI) Sergei Vysotsky, the press service of the organization reported on Wednesday.
“We will try to find solutions to strengthen cooperation and coordination between Ukrainian and American industries provide a lot of help for Ukraine, but we want to discuss more targeted funding for industrial development of Ukraine’s defense. increasing orders from Ukrainian enterprises,” Vysotsky said.
According to him, the Ukrainian military-industrial complex can increase its own production several times.
“The main thing is the financing of contracts for targeted programs, for the financing of the Ukrainian industrial base and the Ukrainian military industrial complex so as not to buy some strange shells from far away third countries using the money of Ukrainian donors, but to buy them directly in Ukraine for Ukraine It will be a big contribution to our sustainability and our defense capability In addition, it will support the Ukrainian economy, said the Deputy Chairman of NAUDI.
American diplomat, ambassador and former US special representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker spoke at the summit. In his speech, he mentioned the importance of supporting Ukraine.
“To avoid a world war, Ukraine must win the war against Russia, and this fight must not take place in isolation,” Volker emphasized.
Sergei Vysotsky also said that on the second day of the summit there will be a conference of veterans, where 10 Ukrainian veterans with severe wounds and veterans will speak together and share their rehabilitation experience.
On the third day, a charity veterans’ golf tournament will be held at the American Andrews Air Force Base, where the funds will be used for the rehabilitation of Ukrainian soldiers.
Earlier, Ukraine received the first decision to purchase Ukrainian weapons for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the expense of its Western partner, Denmark. The money came through a new fundraising platform. The government has set a goal of collecting $10 billion for domestic arms production by 2024.
