The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine called on people’s representatives to determine the priority bill No. 6569-d, which provides for the creation of the Military Police. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense on Friday, May 31.
It was noted that the powers of such a body include recording crimes, searching and detaining military personnel, and protecting the rights of the military according to NATO standard AJP-3.21.
The Ministry of Defense has noted the need for investigative powers for the Military Police and plans to work with representatives to improve the bill.
“This document is of vital importance for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which desperately needs the creation of a justice system, the first step towards which is the Military Police,” the ministry said.
It should be noted that bill No. 6569-d provides for the creation of the Military Police on the basis of the Military Law Enforcement Service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
It was previously reported that Ukraine is developing a legislative framework for the creation of a military police.
