At the time of the attack by Hamas militants, Shani Luk was at a music festival near the Gaza border.
The Israeli military, during an operation in the Gaza Strip, discovered the bodies of three hostages killed after an attack by Hamas militants on October 7, 2023. Among them was the body of German tourist Shani Luk . This was announced by the official representative of the Israel Defense Forces, Daniel Hagari, writes Radio Liberty.
“It is with a heavy heart that I announce that last night the IDF and General Security Services released the bodies of our captives Shani Luk, Amit Buskila and Yitzhak Gelernter, who were captured during the Hamas massacre on October 7 and killed by Hamas,” said He.
At the time of the terrorist attack, Luk, Buskila and Gelenrtner were at a music festival, which took place near the border of the Palestinian enclave and where a significant part of the victims of that attack were killed.
The three were killed as they tried to leave the festival site, after which Hamas militants took their bodies to Gaza, an Israeli military official said.
It was learned that the remains delivered to Israel have already undergone an identification procedure.

Let’s remember that on October 7, 2023, Hamas militants carried out a massive rocket attack on Israel and entered its territory. About 1,200 people were killed during the attack, and more than 200 Israelis and foreigners were taken hostage and taken to Gaza. More than 130 people still remain in captivity.
In response, the Israeli army launched Operation Iron Swords and attacked the group’s targets in the Gaza Strip. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the IDF would stop firing in Gaza only after the return of Israelis abducted by terrorists.
