Electricity consumption is growing – Ukrenergo

An increase in electricity consumption of 6.5% requires additional integration of 3-4 units in the thermal power plant. But now there is no such possibility.

In Ukraine, electricity consumption increases due to cold weather. On the morning of April 17, its level was 6.5% higher than the same figure yesterday, Ukrenergo reported on Wednesday.

“To cover such growth, it is necessary to also turn on 3-4 units at thermal power plants but now there is no such possibility – thermal power plants are one of the main targets of missile attacks by Russia,” the message said. .

It was indicated that yesterday the maximum daily consumption was around 21:00. This is almost 2% higher than the maximum consumption on Monday 15 April.

“From 19:00 to 22:00 hours, the Ukrenergo Dispatch Center calls for limiting the use of powerful energy-intensive devices,” the energy workers wrote.

Emergency restoration of thermal power plants continues after a massive missile attack on April 11. The operation of solar power plants is hampered by thick clouds in all regions. A planned repair campaign is underway at nuclear power plants.

In this regard, on April 16, during the hours of maximum night consumption, there was not enough electricity in the energy system – there was a shortage. From 20:00 to 22:00, Ukrenergo obtained emergency assistance from energy system operators in Poland, Slovakia and Romania with a total volume of 400 MWh.

Now Ukraine will import electricity from Romania, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, and Moldova. A total volume of 6600 MWh, with a peak power in individual hours of up to 884 MW. No export planned.

It was previously known that three power units were turned off at Ukrainian power plants. They are released for scheduled and emergency repairs.
