Unknown masked men with weapons broke into the office of the TC Televisión channel in Guayaquil, took several journalists hostage and shouted that they had bombs. The incident was broadcast live for about 15 minutes, which was interrupted after the sound of gunshots was heard in the frame.
Later, the building was cordoned off by security services, and the attackers were detained. Security forces seized weapons and explosives from them, reports (Associated Press). The country’s President Daniel Noboa declared a regime of “internal armed conflict” in the country.

El Universo newspaper reports that a 60-day martial law was imposed in Ecuador on Monday after the country’s most dangerous criminal, Jose Adolfo Macias, escaped from prison. At the same time, almost 40 prisoners escaped from another prison.
Since then, at least seven police officers have been kidnapped. Jose Adolfo Macias, nicknamed Fito, was in prison for 12 years. At the same time, he remained the head of a large criminal group, Los Choneros (People from the City of Chone). The gang is involved in international drug trafficking and racketeering in collaboration with cartels in Mexico and Colombia. The number of the group is at least 8 thousand people.
