Consideration of the draft law was postponed by the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence. As of January 9, five bills to improve mobilization had been registered in parliament. One of them was submitted by the Cabinet of Ministers, and the other three alternatives were submitted by people’s representatives. People’s Deputy from Golos Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported this on Telegram.
Thus, the Defense Committee completed its meeting today and postponed the issue of mobilization until tomorrow, the report says.
According to the parliamentarian, it is likely that on January 10, the deputies will already prepare a decision on recommending the adoption of the government law as a basis, with proposals from the committee, which should be taken into account before the second reading. The Verkhovna Rada is expected to vote on this bill on January 11.
Also today, the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security and Defense met. Zheleznyak noted that parliamentarians began to discuss another bill #10062 (on the military registration register).
Let us recall that on January 8, the Committee on Anti-Corruption Policy recognized the government bill on mobilization as containing corruption risks. And the parliamentary Committee on Social Policy and Protection of Veterans’ Rights recommended finalizing the government draft law on mobilization, taking into account proposals for alternative bills.
As is known, legislators proposed a number of innovations, including a change in the conscription age from 27 to 25 years, a 90-day leave for military personnel after captivity, and three months of basic military service for persons from 18 to 25 years old. It was proposed to send summonses electronically, and they want to prohibit those who evade from driving their own cars and using their own money. It was also proposed to mobilize people with disabilities.
