The scandal surrounding Farion began because of his sharp criticism of Ukrainian military personnel who continued to communicate with Russian. The representative of the former citizen said that “he cannot call them Ukrainians.”
Then, when his words sparked a wave of public condemnation at all levels, Farion published a letter of support, purportedly written by a Crimean student. At the same time, the ex-deputy did not hide his personal information. Subsequently, information emerged that Russian security forces had searched for this man in Crimea.
Students of Lviv Polytechnic staged mass protests calling for the teacher’s dismissal, and student government bodies called on law enforcement agencies to investigate his statements for violation of the article on “insulting the honor and dignity of the military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.”
The SBU went out of business
The SBU initiated a psychological and linguistic analysis of Irina Farion’s statements.
Criminal proceedings are opened under the following articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
– Art. 161 (violation of the equality of citizens depending on their race, nationality, region, religious belief, disability and other grounds);

As a result, Lviv Polytechnic National University removed Irina Farion from the position of professor in the Ukrainian language department.
“The position of the ministry remains unchanged – people who do not share the values of dignity and do not feel respect for soldiers have no place in the education system. I hope that the SBU, within the framework of the open criminal trial, will provide a fair assessment of the statements and actions of the former teacher of the Lviv Polytechnic,” he said. , – said the Minister of Education of Ukraine Oksen Lisovoy.
The reason for the exnarder’s dismissal is a violation of Article 41 of the Labor Code: the commission of an employee performing educational duties of an immoral offense incompatible with the continuation of this work.
Farion responded by calling his dismissal unfounded and vowing to seek justice in court: “To the victory, gentlemen! Everything is just beginning, because every ending is essentially a beginning. I’m preparing a case.”
