On Wednesday, November 15, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov introduced the new commander of the Special Operations Forces, Sergei Lupanchuk, to the staff, the Ministry of Defense reported.
It is noted that Umerov introduced Colonel Sergei Lupanchuk to the staff, who became the commander of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Umerov, together with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny, presented the battle banner of the Special Forces of the Armed Forces to Colonel Lupanchuk.
“We are all proud of the strength of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and sincerely wish for new successes in protecting our state from Russian aggression. We thank Major General Viktor Khorenko for his service. The increase of the power of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is a priority of the state defense policy,” said Umyer.
Let’s recall that on November 3, President Zelensky dismissed Khorenko and appointed Sergei Lupanchuk as the new commander of the Special Forces. Lupanchuk said that he did not know the reasons for the resignation, and that he learned about it from the media.
The next day it became known that Viktor Khorenko will continue to serve in the Ministry of Defense.
