The Lithuanian Migration Department will start exchanging digital residence certificates for Ukrainian refugees at the end of November. This is reported by LRT in relation to the Migration Department.
It was noted that Ukrainian refugees with digital permits for temporary residence in Lithuania, issued on the basis of temporary protection, recently received a reminder that these documents are about to expire.
According to the Migration Department, these notifications are generated automatically, and currently Ukrainians who receive them do not need to make an appointment at customer service offices.
The digital temporary residence permit, introduced in January this year, is valid until March 4, 2024. But due to the EU’s decision to extend temporary protection for refugees for at least another year, the migration department plans to begin replacing it at the end of November.
The new permits for Ukrainian refugees are valid until March 4, 2025.
We remind you that Switzerland continues its protection status for Ukrainians until March 2025. The Swiss government is also strengthening efforts to integrate as many Ukrainian refugees as possible into the labor market.
It has also been reported that Germany will reduce aid to refugees in 2024. Asylum seekers will only receive the right to social assistance after only three years of receiving reduced aid, and not after one and a half years, as now . Until then, the federal center will pay a total of 7,500 euros per year for each asylum seeker in Germany.
