The Polish Prime Minister said that September 17 serves as a reference to the “terrible consequences of the Russian-German alliance.”
Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki on Sunday criticized former German Chancellor Angela Merkel over Russian energy deals, comparing it to the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact that made World War II possible.
The Polish Prime Minister, in a speech after state events marking the 84th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s attack on Poland, said September 17 served as a reminder of the “unfortunate consequences of the Russian-German alliance”, reports PAP.
“We also remind ourselves of the modern dangers of the German-Russian alliance. It is this alliance that led to the possibility of Russia attacking Ukraine especially because of the terrible gas and raw materials policy pursued by Germany,” he said.
Morawiecki used the speech to criticize his predecessor in office, the leader of the opposition Civic Platform, Donald Tusk, for allegedly being pro-Russian and rapprochement with Germany.
“Just as there was the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, which we know very well, so, de facto, there is the Merkel-Putin gas and raw materials pact. And this agreement led to the hope of a large part of Europe and led to ” disaster” in Poland in particular, and the main executor of this Merkel-Putin pact is Donald Tusk,” added the Polish prime minister.
We remind you that Ukrainian refugees are moving from Poland to Germany.
