As part of the sanctions review, the EU Council approved the decision not to proceed with the designation of the four individuals.
The European Union has extended six-month sanctions against individuals and legal entities from Russia responsible for violating Ukraine’s territorial integrity. This was reported by the press service of the EU Council on Wednesday, September 13.
It is indicated that the sanctions include travel restrictions for individuals, freezing of assets and prohibition of the provision of funds or other economic resources to individuals and legal entities. They will be effective until at least March 15, 2024.
“Sanctions will continue to be applied to nearly 1,800 individuals and entities, many of whom were targeted in response to Russia’s ongoing unjustified and unprovoked military aggression against Ukraine,” the statement said.
At the same time, as part of the sanctions review, the Council of the EU approved the decision not to continue including four people on the list.
“The EU will continue to provide strong financial, economic, humanitarian, military and diplomatic support to Ukraine and its people as long as necessary,” the EU Council said.
Earlier, the media reported that the European Union would not extend restrictions against the three Russians and named them.
At the same time, the EU Court refused to lift sanctions against four Russian oligarchs.
In total, 11 packages of sanctions were introduced against Russia, the last of which was introduced on June 23.
