An earthquake of magnitude 6.9 was recorded in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of the Kingdom of Tonga. This was announced by the US Geological Survey (USGS) on Sunday, July 2.
The center of the disaster is located 134 kilometers northwest of the capital of the kingdom of Nuku’alofa, which is home to more than 23 thousand people. The source is at a depth of 225 kilometers.
No casualties or injuries were reported. There is no tsunami threat.
It will be remembered that on June 30, an earthquake of magnitude 6.4 occurred on the Indonesian island of Java. As a result, at least 10 people were injured and one person died.
Also last month, an earthquake of magnitude 5.3 was recorded in the city of Arad in western Romania.
