Poland proposes to extend the penalties to propagandists and judges, as well as ban the import of agricultural products from the Russian Federation.
Representatives of EU member states, who on Friday, May 12, gathered for a meeting on the 11th package of sanctions against Russia, could not make a decision. Another meeting is scheduled for next week, reports Polish Radio.
Polish Ambassador to the EU Andrzej Sados noted that many issues related to sanctions against the Russian Federation are technically very complex, and therefore require careful expert analysis. At the same time, he expressed hope that the sanctions package would be agreed upon at the next meeting.
Sados also noted that the new package takes into account Poland’s proposal to extend punishments to propagandists and judges who pass sentences in political trials, as well as introducing restrictions against companies Russian transport.
He recalled that Warsaw had also called for a ban on the import of agri-food products from Russia to the EU: “In the current situation, we see no justification for extending the permit for the import of agri-food products -food of Russia.”
It was previously reported that negotiations on new sanctions against the Russian Federation could be delayed. Some EU countries consider the sanctions too lenient, while others fear damaging their international relations.
