The Armed Forces of Ukraine clarified information about 90% of the effectiveness of air defense

A high percentage of target destruction applies only to the type of weapons that Ukraine can fire.

In the Air Force, commenting on media information about the high efficiency of the Ukrainian air defense, they said that a high percentage of target destruction applies only to the type of weapons that Ukraine can shoot. Yuriy Ignat, spokesman of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said this on Friday, May 12, on the air of the telethon.

“I want to say about the material in the media, and in some sources I have already “read” the euphoria that will not hurt. Since we shot 90% of the missiles, as, for example, in the attack on Kiev, we are talking about the type of weapons that we can shoot. If we are talking about cruise missiles Caliber, Kh-101, Kh-555, Shaheda – yes, here the percentage of destruction is about 75- 80%, maybe 90%, and in some types of attacks, even 100%. But this is far from happening with all enemy weapons,” said Ignat.

He noted that the Russian Federation has missiles that Ukrainian forces cannot yet shoot down – Kh-22, Kh-31p, Oniks, S-300, as well as guided bombs, etc.

“90% relates to the fact that we can hit. Why – I explain it. It seems that Ukraine’s air defense is 90% effective. No, it’s not, unfortunately. We need to strengthen,” the speaker said, adding that the The basis of air defense still consists of old Soviet systems.

Earlier, Western media reported that Ukraine shot down 90-100% of Russian missiles.

Recall that on May 4, the Ukrainian military for the first time managed to shoot down the Russian X-47 Kinzhal missile, which the Russians call hypersonic. The enemy missile was shot down thanks to the Patriot air defense system.
