The Wagner mercenaries were able to make some progress in Bakhmut because I would advance north of the T0504 Konstantinovka-Vremeni Yar-Bakhmut road along the main railway in the city. Assault detachments captured two quarters in the northwest and in the center of Bakhmut. However, this has not yet been established for the quarters. This is stated in a new report by the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
Experts noted that now there are battles for control over the railway in the center of Bakhmut. And the regular military armies of Russia are engaged in positional battles to the north of the city.
Meanwhile, the leader of the Wagnerites, Yevgeny Prigozhin, said that he needed at least 6,000 shells over an indefinite period of time in order to advance more than 100-200 meters per day. Thus, the invader tried to justify the slow advance of his mercenaries.
It is also noted that the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to beat the occupiers in Bakhmut. Experts noted that the Russian military was even forced to cooperate with the Wagnerites in order to improve their situation in Bakhmut.
Recall that the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Bakhmut and Maryinka remain the epicenter of hostilities in Ukraine. And on Monday, April 17, units of the Defense Forces repelled more than 70 attacks by Russians in the Kupyansky, Limansky, Bakhmutsky, Avdeevsky and Maryinsky directions.
