The troops of the Russian Federation were conducting offensive operations in different directions at the same time, but the Ukrainian fighters managed to stop their advance and caused heavy losses. This was said by the commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky, reports the Military Media Center on April 18.
“Yes, in the direction of Kupyansk there were attempts by the enemy to conduct offensive operations, but thanks to the accurate fire of our artillery, the units of the Russian Federation fled without even reaching the transition line in the -attack. In the direction of Limansk , the enemy’s actions were also unsuccessful,” said Syrsky.
He emphasized that the direction of Bakhmut remains the center of the conflict.
“There the enemy is concentrating its greatest efforts and not abandoning the goal of controlling the city at any cost. The enemy is increasing the activity of heavy artillery and the number of air strikes, turning the city into ruins. At the same time, our fighters cause huge losses to the enemy and significantly slow down his offensive actions,” – added the Colonel General.
According to him, the battles for Bakhmut are continuing and the situation is currently under control.
Earlier, the Ministry of Defense said that none of the information being filled by the Russian Federation about the situation around Bakhmut was true.
