The command of the Russian Federation transferred troops from the Avdiivka region to intensify offensive operations around Bakhmut, and since about March 30, the invaders have lost about 4 thousand soldiers and mercenaries of the Wagner PKK in this city. This is stated in the report of the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) with reference to the statement of the Chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexei Gromov dated April 13.
Gromov’s statement confirms the assessment that the Russian army – in its current form – is not capable of conducting large-scale offensive campaigns in several directions at the same time, analysts say.
The report also states that the Kremlin has yet to undertake the necessary reorganization of its military efforts in order to use economies of scale to support a large formation of occupying troops. And in the south of Ukraine, the invading army continues to strengthen its positions, preparing for a possible Ukrainian counteroffensive.
Recall that the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that the occupying troops of the Russian Federation continue to advance in the Limansky, Bakhmutsky, Avdeevsky and Maryinsky directions, and the most fierce battles continue for Bakhmut and Maryinka.
