According to him, the protected command post of the Ministry of Defense, where the minister was supposed to go with his team, was in Gostomel, where the enemy, as it later became obvious, sent a powerful blow in the form of a massive landing.
The ZKP, which was assigned to my personnel, was located, you will laugh, in Gostomel, in a protected place, which was the first to be ambushed. Theoretically, if we moved there at least in a day or two, then half of my ministry would be there. Almost captured.
Therefore, we simply scattered around various buildings belonging to the Ministry of Defense. Thank God, there are enough of them in Kyiv. I generally ordered the financiers to be taken out of Kyiv so that they would be in a more or less safe place and could work,” the minister told the UP.
He believes that he would have been captured if Russia had acted according to a certain security protocol at the beginning of the invasion.
The Minister of Defense also spoke about the atmosphere in the office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny on the first day of the invasion.
According to him, on the morning of February 24, the defense was already in charge in the reception room of Zaluzhny. The commander-in-chief controlled the troops both through special communications and through ordinary messengers. Zaluzhny and his deputies, Reznikov recalls, were collected and calm – nothing had changed for the commander-in-chief, since he had been preparing for this war all his life.
Reznikov only added that there was a lot of swearing. The “Shoot” command was formulated in slightly different words.
