For more than 10 years, the Austrian Raiffeisen Bank International served fictitious companies linking to Arkady and Boris Rotenberg, the oligarchs of Putin’s circle.
The investigation by Der Standard refers, in particular, to the company Hervet, registered in Cyprus and having relations with the bank from 2002 to 2016. This company had a securities account and clearing accounts for exchange transactions. The largest transaction amounted to more than 120 million euros.
The Austrian authorities also noted that Raiffeisen was not serious about preventing money laundering in the so-called offshore zones. For this, the bank paid more than 3 million euros in fines.
The Rotenberg billionaires have been on the EU and US sanctions lists since 2022. One of the brothers is considered the beneficiary of “Putin’s palace” in Gelendzhik.
Raiffeisen Bank decided to continue working on the Russian market and give benefits to the occupiers.
Before the full-scale invasion of Russia, more than 200 foreign banks were operating, but in a year only six institutions left the Russian market.
The Austrian Raiffeisen Bank International did not take the side of good, but decided to continue working in Russia and pay murderous taxes to the terrorist country.
