The operation to abandon illegally held weapons has spread across Paris and three departments

The disarmament operation, which was initially planned from November 25 to December 2, will continue in the Paris region until December 6, the police headquarters announced. In Paris, as in the three departments of the inner suburbs (Eau-de-Seine, Saint-Saint-Denis, Val-de-Marne), it is still possible to lay down arms. These deposits can be made even by appointment at home.

Organized by the Ministry of the Interior and carried out by the Central Armaments Service, this large-scale operation enabled the seizure of one in ten weapons illegally held in France; according to evaluations. This is the result of a promise made by the state since November 25: people who secretly keep weapons can come and deposit them with the confidence of not being prosecuted by justice and within a simplified procedure.

Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin welcomed “broad membershipto this actual disarmament operation by the French. If most of the weapons are destroyed, 50,000 are registered and thus left to owners who now have them legally.
