The scientists were able to model worm-hole with a quantum computer, trying to create a theory gravity quantum.

These wormholes, which would function as a bridge between two regions of spacetime, have not been tested, but they are compatible with relativity. Now this simulation opens the door to a deeper study.

Breakthrough

The researchers who published their results in Naturepoint out that they managed to create two tiny black holes and send a message to each other.

The experiment was carried out on the processor google sycamore and represents another step towards the possibility of studying gravity quantumhypothetical theory relating physical quantum with gravity, both are inherently incompatible.

“We have found a quantum system that exhibits the key properties of a gravitational wormhole, yet is small enough to be implemented on modern quantum hardware,” said Maria Spiropoulou, lead author of the study.

we are still far away

The authors of the study themselves made it clear that scientists are still far from being able to send people or other living beings through such a portal.

“Experimental, for me, I’ll tell you, it’s very, very far. People come to me and ask, “Can you put your dog in a wormhole?” So no,” Spiropoulou told reporters during a video briefing. “That’s a big jump.”

“There is a difference between what is possible in principle and what is actually possible,” added physicist and study co-author Joseph Lykken of Fermilab, an accelerator laboratory and physical particles from the USA. “So don’t hold your breath as you send your dog through the wormhole. But you have to start somewhere. And I think I’m interested that we can get our hands on that.”
