On the night of December 5, the inhabitants of the Earth will have a rare opportunity to see the approach of the Moon and Venus, as well as observe the mysterious “terrestrial glow”.
The night of 5th December will be special for all astronomy lovers. In the southwestern part of the sky you can see a unique cosmic phenomenon – the rapprochement of the young Moon and bright Venus.
This “pair” of planetary objects will be only two degrees apart, making them visible to the naked eye.
According to The Guardian and Space, the best time for observations in Kyiv is after 18:00. Venus will appear as a bright star, and the Moon, illuminating only 20%, will appear as a thin crescent. The new Moon, which appears in the sky on December 1, leaves the night sky dark, creating perfect viewing conditions.
Another highlight of the night is the chance to see the “earthly glow”, or “Da Vinci’s glow”. This is the effect when sunlight, reflected from Earth, illuminates the dark side of the lunar disk. To enjoy this phenomenon, astronomers advise to find a place away from city lights.
This event is an opportunity to see the beauty of space in all its grandeur.
It was previously reported that the Ukrainian flag with the logo of the UNITED24 platform became part of a historic space event.
