On the morning of September 24, China launched a Smart Dragon-3 space launch vehicle with eight satellites from an offshore platform in the Yellow Sea. CGTN reports.
The rocket was launched from a platform installed at sea near the city of Haiyan in China’s eastern Shandong province and successfully launched the spacecraft into their planned orbits.
Among the launched satellites are the Emposat-2-05 telecommunications satellite and the Tianyan-15 weather satellite, the others are the Tianyi-41, Fudan-1, Jitianxing-A-01 remote sensing satellites, as well as the three Xing Shidai constellations .
Smart Dragon-3 is a four-stage solid-propellant rocket, China’s largest in its class for providing commercial services, reaching 31 m in length with a main fairing with a diameter of 3.35 m and half a ton of useful material in low Earth orbit (500 km). Using this rocket could reduce the cost of the payload unit to $10,000 per kilogram.
Let’s recall that China made the first launch of the Long March-6C launch vehicle (Long March-6C), a new model in this family of rockets. It launched four satellites into low-Earth orbit.
Earlier, China launched the Chang’e-6 lunar probe on the far side of the Moon. He must collect and deliver satellite rock samples to Earth.
