Mission JUICE belonging WHAT took his first pictures from a surveillance camera, in which part of the spacecraft was captured against the background of the Earth.

The mission was launched on Ariane 5 from the European spaceport in Kourou on April 14 at 14:14 CET, and images were taken a few hours later.

Photos begin

JUICE (Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer) has two surveillance cameras located in the “hull” of the spacecraft to record various images. The images are snapshots with a resolution of 1024 x 1024 pixels. Images are lightly processed with color pre-adjustment, reports WHAT.

The Science Camera will be used to capture high resolution images. Jupiter and its icy moons after reaching the Jupiter system in 2031.

Surveillance Camera JUICE 1 (JMC1) is located at the front of the spacecraft and looks diagonally up into a field of view in which part of one of the solar arrays is visible and eventually the deployed antennas will be visible.

Surveillance Camera SOK 2 (JMC2) is located on top of the spacecraft and is designed to monitor a 16 m long multi-stage deployment of the Ice Moon Exploration Radar (RIME) antenna.

RIME is currently in a saved configuration; It will be developed in stages in the coming days. Pictures will be taken to capture the entire screen.

Surveillance cameras will also be active during various mission operations, including a gravity flyby of the Moon, Earth, and Venus during the journey to Jupiter. (Europe Press)
