Scientists believe that an object in space can reach the brightness of the fifth magnitude. He will move towards the constellations of Bootes, Draco and Ursa Minor.
In early January 2023, a unique comet C / 2022 E3, dubbed “Christmas”, will approach Earth. This was reported by Forbes.
It turns out that the comet, originally thought to be an asteroid, was discovered on March 2, 2022 in the constellation Aquila using the 48-inch Zwicky Transient Facility telescope near San Diego, California. It is in the crescent constellation Corona Borealis.
C/2022 E3 can be seen low on the northwestern horizon about an hour before sunrise. Although relatively dim, even 10×50 binoculars used in the northern hemisphere should be able to distinguish the contours of the comet.
However, at the beginning of next year, the space object will be visible throughout the night.
In addition, astronomers are confident that the comet will shine brighter as it approaches its perihelion, the closest point to the Sun, on January 12, 2023. However, it should reach maximum brightness around February 1, 2023. During this period, its maximum approach to Earth will be observed.
Earlier it was reported that a NASA device called SOHO, using its instruments, recorded the fatal descent of a comet on the Sun.
