Apple employees say the CEO has been vital to the company’s success as a whole.
One of the most senior executives of Apple Inc. Tony Blevins comes down after joking about women’s breasts. A video of his speech went viral online. Details of the scandal were provided by Bloomberg.
Blevins caused a scandal by answering a question about his earnings.
“I drive expensive cars, I play golf and caress women with big breasts, but I take weekends and big holidays,” said the manager, who is Apple’s vice president of purchasing and responsible for in closing deals with suppliers and partners.
After an internal investigation into the case, Blevins’ team, which included about half a dozen direct reports and several hundred employees, was removed from his command.
A manager with 22 years of experience confirmed his words and apologized for them to society.
“I want to take this opportunity to sincerely apologize to everyone who was offended by my misguided attempt at humor,” Blevins said.
The video was captured at a car show the man attended last month in Pebble Beach, California. His lines in the 25-second clip refer to a line from the 1981 film Arthur, in which protagonist Arthur Bach describes his career like this: “I drive cars, play tennis and caress girls, but I have days off and I’m on my own. boss.”
At the same time, Apple employees say Blevins has been an integral part of the company’s success over the past two decades, helping it increase profit margins and gain access to key technologies before competitors. The team believes it may be difficult to replace him.
Furthermore, The Wall Street Journal described Blevins as Apple’s top cost-cutter in a 2020 feature story, saying he was known as “The Blevinator.”
