Imovision launches “Dragula” in partnership with the largest streaming service in the USA

Distributor Imovision has announced a new exclusive partnership with Shudder, the largest American streaming service for horror films, for releases on the Reserva Imovision platform. Betting on content that is currently trending, such as horror and reality shows, the platform will premiere two seasons of “Boulet Brothers’ Dragula” and acclaimed horror films in September.

“Boulet Brothers’ Dragula” stands out for its unique approach that redefines and pushes the boundaries of drag competition culture by exploring edgy and dark elements of horror, science fiction and fantasy. The series is hosted by the Boulet Brothers, comprised of drag artists Dracmorda and Swanthula.

Renowned for their irreverent style, creativity and passion for drag, the duo was recognized as “New Icons of Horror” by the American horror magazine, Fangoria, in 2022. In 2024, they secured their first Emmy Award nominations, in the categories of Best Hair and Best Makeup in a Variety or Reality Show.

The series’ tests go beyond a simple beauty contest: each participant must present an innovative character according to the week’s theme, and is challenged in varied tests of makeup, style, design, performances and extreme endurance tests, reflecting representations of various categories and icons of classic horror, where the dark element is essential.

Every week, the contestants are evaluated by a panel of special guest judges, including the iconic Katya and Alaska from the RuPaul’s Drag Race franchise, as well as big names in horror, such as Cassandra Peterson (Elvira – Mistress of the Dark), Mike Flanagan, creator of “The Haunting of Hill House”, David Dastmalchian, from “Interview with the Devil”, Bonnie Aarons, actress from “The Nun”, and Matthew Lillard, star of the first “Scream” from 1996.

In anticipation of the arrival of the sixth season of the reality show, which will be released by Reserva Imovision in Brazil simultaneously with Shudder in the United States, two iconic seasons of “Dragula” will be available in September: the fifth season, which broke audience records on Shudder, and “Dragula – Titans”, a spin-off that marks the return of the fiercest competitors from previous seasons for a new, even more terrifying and challenging competition. The releases will take place on September 18 and 19, respectively. The premiere date for the sixth season has not yet been confirmed.
