Those looking to breathe new air and want to be enchanted by exuberant natural landscapes, without giving up an urban center, will find Porto Velho the ideal destination. The capital of Rondônia was pioneered by people from various parts of Brazil, at the beginning of the 19th century, for the construction of the Madeira-Mamoré Railway, therefore, it is the synthesis of the country.
In the last decade, the city has undergone an incredible urban transformation, with a very strong janitorial work. The streets of Porto Velho gained new trees, cleaning was expanded, there was a strong growth in the civil construction area, with new residential buildings and condominiums and expansion
visible from the trade. This greatly changed the look of the city, with clean streets, wide avenues and a more charming and neat touch to its public areas.
cultural attractions
Praça das Caixas D’água, in the center of the city, is a local symbol. The equipment came from USA and became a landmark, so much so that they are stamped on the flag of the municipality. It is in its rich historical and cultural attractions, such as the traditional House of Culture Ivan Morocco, the Metropolitan Cathedral Sagrado Coração de Jesus and the Palácio da Memória Rondoniense Museum that one can appreciate and live the memories of the city.
Natural Beauties
Porto Velho has rich biodiversity and hides natural paradises. AND surrounded by forests on the banks of the Madeira River, where it is possible to take boat trips to see dolphins and enjoy waterfalls and parks, such as the Natural Park of Porto Velho and the Parque Circuito Dr. José Adelino da Silva. Nearby is the Lago do Cuniã Extractive Reserve, perfect for observing Amazonian species such as the pirarucu (one of the largest freshwater fish in Brazil) and the black caiman.
local gastronomy
Like other cities in the North region, Porto Velho is a great place to enjoy exotic flavors and try typical dishes such as maniçoba (a mixture of pork and beef with cassava leaves) and caruru (okra stew), especially at the Mercado Central. There you can also experience the
delicious Tacacá, and some dishes of Paraná cuisine that are also strong in the region, such as Bobó de Camarão and the famous Vatapá.
