Find out why in ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’, no adult was transported to the magical kingdom, just like Pedro, Susana, Edmundo and Lúcia
In 1950, the Irish author CS Lewis published the first book in the saga “The Chronicles of Narnia”, under the title “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe”. In the work, we are introduced to the first adventures of the four brothers Pedro, Susana, Edmundo and Lúcia, who end up being transported to a magical world after entering a wardrobe.
Throughout the seven books, the public ends up realizing a curious fact: no adult was teleported to Narnia. In addition to the Pevensies, other characters who also went to Narnia as children are: Professor Digory Kirke, Jill, Polly and Eustáquio, Pedro’s cousin, Susana, Edmundo and Lúcia.
But, do you know why no adults go to Narnia? RECREIO explains it to you!
The real reason
As reported by the ScreenRant portal, adults are not transported to Narnia, as the magical country requires that childhood innocence and faith to believe in the powers of the region are essential to the experience. It is for this reason that, in “Prince Caspian”, when Pedro and Susana are already older, Aslan says that the two should not return, marking the transition from childhood to youth.
The vehicle also points out a possible second reason why older people don’t travel to Narnia: the ambition and selfishness of adults. During the books, it is even possible to see that many adults are corrupted by individualistic motivations in search of power.
In the plot, after the two older Pevensies return to England, Pedro starts to live with professor Digory Kirke, who becomes his tutor and helps him prepare for college, while Susana moves with her parents to the United States.
In “The Last Battle”, the last book in the franchise, we end up discovering that Pedro manages to return to Narnia, as he still maintains his faith in the country. Susana, however, does not return, as she is no longer considered a “friend of Narnia”.

According to Eustáquio, the girl no longer believed in Narnia and, whenever she was asked about the magical world, she used to refer to the kingdom as an old fantasy game from when they were children. Jill also completes the explanation by stating that the queen now “only thinks about lingerie, makeup and social commitments. In fact, she was always crazy about being big.”
Why don’t any adults go to Narnia?
Adults are not transported to Narnia in the ‘Chronicles of Narnia’ saga, as the magical country requires the innocence and faith of childhood to believe in the region’s powers, which are essential to the experience. Furthermore, adults’ ambition and selfishness can corrupt them, which is an additional reason for older people not to travel to Narnia.
Which characters besides the Pevensies have been to Narnia?
In addition to the Pevensies, other characters who have also been to Narnia in the ‘Chronicles of Narnia’ saga are: professor Digory Kirke as a child, Jill, Polly and Eustáquio, Pedro’s cousin, Susana, Edmundo and Lúcia.
What happened to Susana in ‘The Last Battle’?
In ‘The Last Battle’, the last book in the ‘Chronicles of Narnia’ saga, Susana does not return to Narnia, as she is no longer considered a ‘friend of Narnia’, since she no longer maintained faith in the country and referred to Narnia as an old childhood fantasy game, showing that she was more interested in lingerie, makeup and social commitments, wishing to be grown-up people.
